PRP is platelet-rich plasma, which is created from one's own blood supply. A tube of blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the whole blood from the plasma, which is concentrated with platelets to assist with the regeneration, recovery, and healing process.
What is the treatment schedule?
A consultation is first needed to determine if you’re a candidate for PRP. You will need 3 treatment sessions at 4 weeks intervals. You will then be asked to come back 3 months later for treatment number 4.
Patients will be placed on a 3-step regimen of PRP injections, Nutrafol vitamins, and application of topical minoxidil (can be purchased over-the-counter). Blood will be drawn at the start of each session and spun with a centrifuge to produce the PRP. Small amounts of PRP will be injected into desired areas of your scalp by your treatment provider.
Am I a candidate?
The following conditions prevent patients from being candidates for hair restoration with PRP:
When should I expect to see results?
Patients typically see results in 3-6 months. However, response may be variable, and results are not guaranteed.
Can I go back to my regular routine after the treatment?
Yes. You will be instructed to avoid hats, hair products, and exercise for the remainder of the treatment day, and encouraged to take a warm shower after your treatment session.
Does PRP work in both men and women?
Yes.
Is there a consult fee?
Yes, you will require an evaluation by one of our providers before PRP
treatment.
Will I experience soreness after treatment?
Mild soreness and swelling is to be expected after PRP treatment to the scalp. If not contraindicated, patients may take Tylenol the first
day of treatment and Advil the second day.
This patient had 1 treatment and is on Nutrafol Vitamins. Treament photos are 4 weeks apart.
